Search Console

Connect Google Search Console with a service account so research, audits and daily search performance use your real data.

Google Search Console is the most important connection. Keyword research uses it to find page-2 rankings and low-CTR queries, audits need it to compare periods, the AI prompt run uses it for demand, and the Search performance page pulls it every day. AgenticSEO connects with a Google Cloud service account, so you never share your Google password.

What you need

  • Owner or full access to the Search Console property for your site.
  • A Google Cloud project where you can create a service account (free).

Step 1: Create a service account

  1. Open the Google Cloud console and pick or create a project.
  2. Go to IAM & Admin > Service Accounts.
  3. Click Create service account. Give it a name such as agenticseo. You do not need to grant it project roles.
  4. Open the new service account and go to Keys.
  5. Click Add key > Create new key, choose JSON, and download the file.

The JSON file contains a client_email such as agenticseo@your-project.iam.gserviceaccount.com. You need it in step 3.

Warning: The JSON key is a secret. Do not email it or commit it to a repository. AgenticSEO stores it encrypted.

Step 2: Turn on the API

In the same Google Cloud project, open APIs & Services > Library, search for Google Search Console API, and click Enable.

Step 3: Add the service account to Search Console

  1. Open Search Console and choose your property.
  2. Go to Settings > Users and permissions.
  3. Click Add user.
  4. Paste the service account email.
  5. Choose Restricted permission. That is enough.
  6. Click Add.

Step 4: Connect in AgenticSEO

  1. Open Settings > Integrations, card Google Search Console (step 1).
  2. Check the Property:
    • Domain property: sc-domain:example.com
    • URL-prefix property: https://example.com/ (with the trailing slash)
  3. Under Service account JSON key, click Upload .json key file, or paste the JSON.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Test connection.

The property field is filled with sc-domain: plus your domain by default. Change it if your property is a URL-prefix property.

Tip: Not sure which type you have? In Search Console, open the property menu. Domain properties show the bare domain. URL-prefix properties show a full URL.

What uses Search Console

Feature Data Period
Keyword research Queries and pages Last 28 days
Audits Queries and pages Last 28 days vs the 28 days before
AI prompts Queries, for prompt ideas and demand Last 28 days
Page inventory Clicks, impressions, CTR and position per page Last 28 days
Search performance Daily clicks, impressions, CTR and position per site and page Daily. The first pull reads 90 days

Search Console data is about 2 to 3 days behind, so the agents read up to 3 days ago.

Search performance page

The daily pull runs once a day, even when the agent schedule is off. Open Search performance to see:

  • Totals and a daily chart for Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Avg position. Click Show as table for the numbers.
  • Pages going up and down, as Day over day or Week over week.

Click Pull now to run it right away.

Use the same key for Google Analytics 4

The same service account can read Google Analytics 4. Add its email as a Viewer in GA4 and turn on the Analytics Data API. See Analytics.
