How we chose these tools
We looked at each tool through the eyes of a buyer who wants to know two things: "Do AI assistants mention us?" and "What do we do about it?" We used five criteria.
- Measurement quality. AI answers change on almost every run. SparkToro and Gumshoe found that the same prompt gave the same brand list in fewer than 1 in 100 runs. A good tool repeats each prompt and shows a rate, not a single yes or no.
- Competitor and source data. You need to see who else gets named and which domains the AI cites. That tells you where to get mentioned.
- A path to action. Data alone does not change your visibility. We gave credit to tools that turn gaps into content, tasks or advice.
- Price you can see. Public prices make it easy to compare. Hidden prices are not a deal breaker, but they slow you down.
- Fit for the team. A solo founder and an enterprise brand team need very different tools.
We did not rank on "best overall". Each tool wins for a certain buyer. We list AgenticSEO last because it is our product and because it tracks only ChatGPT and Gemini today, which is fewer engines than some tools here.
1. Profound
Profound is an enterprise AI visibility platform. It combines tracking with "AI Marketer" agents that help teams act on what the data shows.
- Best for: Large brands and enterprise marketing teams with budget for a full platform.
- Pros: Tracking and agent-based actions in one place. Built for big teams and many brands. A trial lets you test it.
- Cons: Main plans are not public, so you need a sales call. Likely more than a small team needs.
- Price: Trial available; main plans not public.
2. Peec AI
Peec AI is a focused AI visibility tracker. Peec has also published research showing Reddit is one of the top cited domains in AI search, which shows how much the team studies citation sources.
- Best for: Marketing teams that want a dedicated tracker and plan to do the content work themselves.

Otterly.AI is a tracker with a GEO audit. It has one of the lowest entry prices on this list.

4. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ pairs a tracker with an optimization agent that suggests what to change.
- Best for: Teams that want tracking plus guidance on what to do next.
- Pros: Free tier to test the product. The optimization agent goes beyond reporting.
- Cons: The jump from the free tier to Starter at $295 is large for small teams.

5. Scrunch
Scrunch is a tracker with AXP, a feature aimed at how AI agents read and understand your site. Check the vendor's site for how AXP works for your setup.
- Best for: Mid-market brands that care about how AI agents see their site, not only what they say.
- Pros: Tracking plus a site-side feature. Yearly billing lowers the price.
- Cons: Starts at $300 a month, which is high for small teams. Content creation is not its focus.
- Price: $300 ($250 yearly) or $500 ($417 yearly) a month.
6. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs Brand Radar shows where AI assistants mention your brand and your share of voice against competitors. Ahrefs also publishes a lot of AI search research, such as its study of 75,000 brands that found branded web mentions correlate 0.664 with AI Overview visibility.
- Best for: Teams that already use Ahrefs and want AI mentions next to their SEO data.
- Pros: Share of voice view. Sits next to your Ahrefs SEO data. Custom prompts start at a modest price.

- Price: Custom prompts from €47; AI index from €179 a month.
7. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit adds AI tracking to the Semrush suite. Semrush also offers Semrush One, which bundles SEO and AI tools.
- Best for: Teams already on Semrush who want AI data in the same login.

- Price: $99 a month for 25 prompts; Semrush One $139, $199 or $299.
8. Writesonic
Writesonic combines GEO tracking with an AI writer. That makes it one of the few tools that both measures and writes.
- Best for: Content teams that want a writer and a tracker in one tool.
- Pros: Measure and write in one product. Several plan levels.
- Cons: The listed prices are for yearly billing. Check how the writer handles fact checks before you trust it on claims about your product.

Surfer is known for its content editor. It also offers AI tracking, with AI Search Analytics listed separately.
- Best for: Teams that already write with Surfer's editor.
- Pros: Strong content editor. AI tracking fits into an existing Surfer workflow.
- Cons: AI Search Analytics adds cost on top of the main plan. The editor helps you write, but you still do much of the work.
- Price: $49 to $299 a month on yearly billing; AI Search Analytics $82.
10. HubSpot AEO
HubSpot AEO is a tracker for answer engine optimization from HubSpot.
- Best for: Small teams already in the HubSpot world who want simple tracking.
- Pros: Low, simple price. Familiar brand.
- Cons: A tracker only. You need other tools or people to create content.
- Price: $50 a month.
11. chatbeat
chatbeat is a tracker that also flags wrong claims that AI assistants make about your brand.
- Best for: Brands where wrong AI answers about pricing, features or policies cause real harm.
- Pros: Wrong-claim flags are a useful extra. Three clear plan levels.
- Cons: It does not write content to fix the gaps it finds.
- Price: $99, $249 or $599 a month.
12. AgenticSEO (our product)
AgenticSEO runs a weekly loop for each site. It lists the prompts buyers type into ChatGPT and Gemini, asks each prompt several times (default 5 runs, 1 to 10), and shows the mention rate: the percent of runs that name or cite your site. A prompt counts as "visible" at 50% or more. Gaps become tickets. Then agents write a brief, write the article, check it in a QA gate and publish only drafts that pass.
- Best for: Solo founders, small marketing teams and SaaS companies who want tracking and content in one loop.
- Pros: Repeated runs per prompt with a clear mention rate. Competitor share and cited domains per prompt. QA gate checks claims against your approved product facts. Publishes to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify, a GitHub static site, a custom webhook or manual. The AI is included in the plan, so there is no separate AI bill.
- Cons: Tracks ChatGPT and Gemini only. Perplexity, Claude, Copilot and Google AI Overviews are on the roadmap. The AI is included in the plan.
- Price: Free ($0, 3 prompts shown), $69 per site a month, with 5% off each extra site. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. See AgenticSEO pricing.
How to choose the right AI visibility tool
Start with your team, your budget and what you will do with the data. Use this table as a starting point.
| Team type | Main need | Good fits |
|---|---|---|
| Solopreneur | Low cost, little time | Otterly.AI, HubSpot AEO, AgenticSEO Free or per site |
| Marketing team | Shared reports, competitor data | Peec AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Semrush, Scrunch |
| SaaS company | Prompt tracking tied to content and sign-ups | Writesonic, Surfer, AthenaHQ, AgenticSEO |
| Enterprise | Many brands, sales support | Profound, Scrunch |
Solopreneur
You need cheap tracking and very little admin. Start with 15 to 20 prompts that match how buyers describe their problem. Otterly.AI at $29 and HubSpot AEO at $50 are simple trackers. If you also need someone to write the fixes, AgenticSEO's free plan covers 10 prompts and 4 articles a month with the AI included. Our guide to cheap AI visibility trackers for solopreneurs compares the budget options in more depth.
Marketing team
You likely have writers already, so a strong tracker matters most. Peec AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar and the Semrush toolkit fit teams that live in dashboards and share reports. Look for competitor share and cited domains, since those tell your team where to earn mentions.
SaaS company
AI traffic can convert well. In a Seer B2B case, ChatGPT traffic converted at 16% vs 1.8% for organic. Ahrefs reported that 0.5% of sessions from AI gave 12.1% of sign-ups. That makes the "measure, then act" loop worth the effort. Tools that both track and write, such as Writesonic, Surfer, AthenaHQ and AgenticSEO, shorten the gap between finding a missing prompt and shipping a page. See the best GEO tools that write content for a closer look.
What to check in any trial
Before you pay, run the same checks in each tool you test.
- Runs per prompt. Does the tool ask each prompt more than once? A single run can mislead you. Read why AI answers change and what mention rate means.
- Engines. Which assistants does it cover in your plan, and which cost extra?
- Cited sources. Can you see which domains the AI cites for each prompt?
- Competitors. Does it show competitor share per prompt?
- Next steps. Does it tell you what to do, or only what happened?
- Real cost. Add up add-ons, prompt limits and any AI usage costs.
If you want to see repeated-run tracking and a QA-checked content loop together, you can start free with AgenticSEO.
The bottom line
There is no single best AI visibility tool. Enterprise teams will lean toward Profound or Scrunch. Teams on Ahrefs or Semrush can add AI data to the tools they already know. Budget buyers can start with Otterly.AI, HubSpot AEO or a free plan. If you want the tool to act on the data, pick one that measures and writes, and check how it fact-checks what it writes. Whatever you pick, measure across several runs, track the same prompts every week and judge results over a month, not a day.
Want the whole loop in one place? See how it works, then start on the free plan, with no AI key to set up.
