When to switch

Consider switching if

  • You want public prices you can check before a sales call
  • You need a tool that writes, checks and publishes the content that fixes your gaps
  • You are a small team and only need ChatGPT and Gemini tracking for now

Stay with Profound if

  • You need tracking across many engines, such as Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews
  • You need enterprise features like many team seats, roles and a dedicated account team

The best Profound alternatives in 2026 are Scrunch and AthenaHQ for teams that need wide engine coverage, Peec AI and Otterly.AI for focused tracking at a lower price, and AgenticSEO (our product) if you want ChatGPT and Gemini tracking plus content that gets written, checked and published with the AI included. Profound is still the stronger pick for large enterprise teams that need many engines and deep data.

What does Profound do well?

Profound is one of the best known names in AI search visibility. It is built for large brands, and it shows.

  • Many engines. Profound says it tracks the major answer engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot and Claude. Coverage can depend on the plan.
  • Deep data. It gives large teams a lot of data on how AI answers talk about their brand and competitors.
  • Agents. Its "AI Marketer" agents aim to turn insight into action, not only reports.
  • Enterprise support. Big teams get the seats, controls and account help that large companies expect.

If you are a global brand with a large marketing team, Profound is a serious option.

Why do teams look for Profound alternatives?

Most teams that look elsewhere are not unhappy with the data. They have a fit problem.

  1. No public prices. Profound offers a trial, but the main plans are not on its site. You need a sales call to know the cost. Small teams often want a price they can check today.
  2. Too much for a small site. A founder or a small SaaS team may only need a few dozen prompts. An enterprise platform can be more than they need.
  3. Insight is not the same as content. Many teams know their gaps but lack the time to write the pages that fill them. They want a tool that also writes, checks and publishes.

Profound vs AgenticSEO

The two tools solve different parts of the same problem.

Profound is a broad, deep monitoring platform. It tracks more engines than AgenticSEO does today. AgenticSEO checks only ChatGPT and Gemini right now. Perplexity, Claude, Copilot and Google AI Overviews are on our roadmap, not in the product. If those engines matter most to you, Profound wins on coverage.

AgenticSEO is a weekly loop. It lists the prompts your buyers type, asks ChatGPT and Gemini each prompt several times (default 5 runs), and shows a mention rate: the share of runs that name or cite your site. AI answers change on almost every run, so one check can mislead you. You can read more in why AI answers change.

Gaps become tickets. Then agents write a brief, write the article, and run it through a QA gate. The gate checks reading grade, banned phrases, images, alt text, the CTA and claims against your approved product facts. Only passed drafts can publish to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify, a GitHub static site, a webhook, or manual export.

Price works differently too. AgenticSEO includes the AI in the plan, so there is no key to add and no separate AI bill. Plans are $0 for Free and $69 per site per month. The AI is included. See the full pricing page.

Profound has things we do not: enterprise seats and roles, wider engine coverage and larger datasets.

What should you look for in a Profound alternative?

Profound sets a high bar on data, so be clear about what you can give up. Use these checks:

  1. Engines. List the AI engines your buyers use. If Perplexity or Google AI Overviews matter most, pick a tool that covers them today.
  2. Runs per prompt. AI answers change a lot. SparkToro and Gumshoe found the same prompt gave the same brand list in fewer than 1 in 100 runs. A tool that asks each prompt once can mislead you.
  3. Prompt count per dollar. Count the prompts you really need, then compare plans on that number.
  4. What happens after the report. Decide if you need only data, or also briefs, articles and publishing.
  5. Total cost. Add plan price and add-ons. AI usage is included. With AgenticSEO, the AI cost is included in the plan price.

One more tip: test with your own prompts. A demo with sample prompts will not show how a tool handles your market.

Which Profound alternatives should you consider?

We list AgenticSEO first because this page is about an option that also creates content. If engine coverage is your main need, look at Scrunch or AthenaHQ first.

AgenticSEO (our product)

Best for small teams that want ChatGPT and Gemini tracking plus written, checked content. Free plan with 3 prompts shown. Paid plans from $69 per site per month plus your own AI cost. Limit: only two engines today, and no team seats.

Scrunch

Best for brands that want wide engine coverage and an AI-agent version of their site (its AXP). Plans at $300 and $500 per month ($250 and $417 yearly). Limit: a higher entry price than simple trackers.

AthenaHQ

Best for teams that want tracking plus an optimization agent. It has a free tier, and Starter is $295 per month. Limit: the jump from free to paid is large.

Peec AI

Best for marketing teams that want a clean, focused tracker. It sells Starter, Pro and Advanced plans, but the amounts are not public on its page. Limit: it is a tracker, so you still write the content yourself.

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Best for SEO teams that already use Ahrefs. It shows AI mentions and share of voice from a large index. Custom prompts start from €47, and the AI index from €179. Limit: it reports, it does not write.

Otterly.AI

Best for budget tracking with a GEO audit. Plans are $29, $189 and $489 per month. Limit: Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons.

How do you switch from Profound?

  1. Export your prompts. Copy or export the prompt list you track in Profound. Keep the prompts your buyers actually type.
  2. Pick the prompts that fit your plan. AgenticSEO tracks 3 prompts free, then 20 per site. Start with the prompts tied to your best pages.
  3. Re-create your competitor list. Add the same competitor domains so share of voice is comparable.
  4. Start your plan. The AI checks and writing are included in the plan.
  5. Run a baseline week. Let the first weekly loop run. Note the mention rate for each prompt.
  6. Compare with care. The numbers will not match Profound one to one, because the engines and methods differ. Look at trends, not single values.
  7. Run both for a short time. If you can, keep both tools for a few weeks before you cancel.
