Prompts
How AgenticSEO finds the prompts buyers type into ChatGPT and Gemini, estimates demand, and maps each prompt to your content.
Prompts are the questions and requests your buyers type into ChatGPT and Gemini, such as "What is the best payroll tool for a 20-person company?". Every week, right after keyword research, the agent refreshes your prompt list, estimates demand, maps each prompt to your best page or ticket, and asks ChatGPT and Gemini whether they name or cite you.
How the weekly prompt run works
- Read your search data. If Search Console is connected, the agent reads the queries people already use to find you.
- Refresh the prompt list. The AI writes prompts the way real people type them, across the buyer journey: problem questions, "best X for Y" lists, comparisons and alternatives, how-to tasks, and pricing or trust questions. Good existing prompts stay, so their history is kept. Weak ones are retired.
- Estimate demand. See the table below.
- Map each prompt to the single best page on your site or open ticket, with a score from 0 to 100.
- Ask ChatGPT and Gemini each prompt several times. See Mention rate.
- Create gap tickets for the biggest gaps. See Gap tickets.
- Write a report in Insights > Agent reports.
Note: The agent never writes prompts that name your business. A prompt that already names you would not tell you whether the AI recommends you on its own.

How demand is estimated
AI assistants do not publish prompt volumes. So each prompt also gets a matching Google search keyword, and demand comes from that keyword:
| Source | When it is used | Label in the table |
|---|---|---|
| Google monthly searches | DataForSEO is connected and turned on in keyword sources | Google/mo |
| Search Console impressions (28 days) | No DataForSEO volume, but Search Console has impressions for the keyword words | GSC impr. |
| None | Neither source has data | a dash |
Treat demand as an estimate that helps you rank prompts, not as a count of AI prompts.
Read the prompts table
Go to Insights. The AI assistant prompts (ChatGPT and Gemini) card shows:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Prompt | The prompt, with its topic, buyer stage and keyword. "added by team" marks your own prompts |
| Demand | The estimate above |
| ChatGPT / Gemini | Mention rate for the latest round, runs that named you, and how many cited you. Hover to read the latest answer |
| Your content | covered, update or new, with the match score and the mapped page or ticket |
The table shows the top 20 prompts by demand. Click Show all to see the rest.
Content match
| Label | Score | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| covered | 80 to 100 | A page answers the prompt well |
| update | 40 to 79 | A page is related but weak or missing parts |
| new | below 40 | Nothing on your site answers it |
Add your own prompt
- In Insights, open + Add a prompt.
- Type the prompt the way people type it into ChatGPT or Gemini.
- Optional: add a Matching search keyword for the demand estimate.
- Click Add prompt.
Your prompt is mapped and checked in the next AI prompts run. The agent keeps team prompts and does not write duplicates of them.
Tip: Add the prompts your sales team hears on calls. Real buyer wording is better than any keyword tool.
Actions on each prompt
- Check now asks ChatGPT and Gemini this prompt right away, with your runs per prompt setting.
- Create ticket or Update ticket makes a gap ticket by hand.
- Remove stops tracking the prompt.
- Run now (top of the card) runs the full weekly prompt job now.
Without OpenAI or Gemini keys
The run still lists prompts, estimates demand and maps them to your pages. It cannot check visibility, so gap tickets are based on content match only. The AI checks are included in your plan. See AI is included.
Note: AgenticSEO checks ChatGPT and Gemini today. Other assistants are on the roadmap.
