Analytics

Connect Google Analytics 4 or PostHog so research and audits rank pages and topics that bring conversions first.

AgenticSEO reads your analytics to learn which pages appear in sessions that convert. Keyword research and audits then rank those pages and similar topics first. You can connect Google Analytics 4 (free, with the same service account as Search Console) or PostHog. Without analytics, the agents rank by search data only.

Choose a provider

Open Settings > Analytics, card Analytics: pages that bring conversions (step 7).

Provider What it needs Notes
Google Analytics 4 GA4 property ID, optional key event name Free. Uses your Google service account key
PostHog Host, project ID, conversion event, personal API key Uses a PostHog personal API key
None Nothing No conversion data. Research and audits rank by search data only

Connect Google Analytics 4

Set up Search Console first. GA4 uses the same service account key.

  1. In GA4, go to Admin > Property access management.
  2. Add the service account email as a Viewer. Settings shows the email to add.
  3. In Google Cloud, in the same project as the service account, enable the Google Analytics Data API.
  4. In GA4, go to Admin > Property details and copy the property ID. It is a number, for example 412345678.
  5. In AgenticSEO, choose Google Analytics 4.
  6. Enter the GA4 property ID.
  7. Optional: enter a Key event name (optional), for example sign_up or generate_lead. Empty means all key events.
  8. Click Save, then Test Google Analytics 4.

Note: The property ID is not the measurement ID. Measurement IDs start with G-. The property ID is only digits.

Connect PostHog

  1. In PostHog, create a personal API key with query:read access to your project.
  2. In AgenticSEO, choose PostHog.
  3. Fill in the fields:
Setting What it does Default
PostHog host Your PostHog address https://us.posthog.com
PostHog project ID The project to read Empty
Conversion event name The event that means a conversion, for example signup_completed or demo_booked Empty
PostHog personal API key Starts with phx_ Empty
  1. Click Save, then Test PostHog.

EU cloud users should change the host to their EU address.

See converting pages

Go to Insights. The card Pages that bring conversions (analytics, 30 days) lists pages with visits, converting sessions and the rate. Click Sync conversions on Insights or the Overview page to refresh now. Research and audits also sync before they run.

Track AI referral traffic in GA4

AgenticSEO measures AI visibility with its own checks. To also see visits that come from AI assistants, add a filter in GA4 itself. This is a GA4 setup, not an AgenticSEO setting.

  1. In GA4, open Reports > Acquisition > Traffic acquisition.
  2. Change the primary dimension to Session source.
  3. Add a filter on Session source that matches this regex:
^(chatgpt\.com|chat\.openai\.com|gemini\.google\.com|bard\.google\.com|copilot\.microsoft\.com|perplexity\.ai|www\.perplexity\.ai|claude\.ai)$
  1. Save it as a comparison or an exploration so you can reuse it.

Some AI apps send no referrer, so this undercounts. Read more on our blog: Track AI referral traffic in GA4.

Tip: AI visitors can convert well. Seer Interactive reported a B2B case where ChatGPT traffic converted at 16% versus 1.8% for organic. Your numbers will differ, so track your own.

Calls to action and conversion pages

Analytics works best with your CTAs set. Open Settings > Conversions:

Setting What it does
Calls to action Label and URL pairs, for example "Start free trial" and https://example.com/signup. Every article must link to at least one. QA checks this
Other conversion pages Pricing, demo, signup. One URL per line

Click Suggest CTAs from my website to let the AI read your site and suggest them. You check before you save.

Fix common errors
